ARTIST STATEMENT

I’ve always found it difficult to ignore the news as the world grappled with various human rights issues, discrimination and health crises. Though daunting, I’ve felt compelled to keep educating myself in hopes that my generation can approach the world differently, and perhaps make meaningful change. Still, learning does not feel enough; I feel the need to take a proactive approach to effect meaningful change. I achieve this through filmmaking, which has been my most powerful tool as I navigate how to exist in the world. Through directing and writing, I share what I have learned through research and personal experience to build awareness in my audience, and in turn, create a dialogue that allows me to learn and grow more as well.
